Is IRC safe?
IRC is safe providing you access the server using an up-to-date IRC client such as mIRC's latest version or the Java Web Chat. Some people try scaremongering tactics to keep the community on thier community website claiming they will get hacked or a virus. This is a PRIVATE server and not a public network where 1,000 idiots try to grief chatters.

Can someone get my real name or IP address on IRC?
No, we use host masking to scramble your IP or hostname. Your real name or other personal details can only be obtained if you give them! Dont put your real name in mIRC or in the Nickname of the Web Chat.

The Web Chat wants me to run some window. Whats going on?
This is the Java applet which connects you to IRC. This is normal. If you have any doubts, do not accept and use mIRC instead.

I dont want to use the Web Chat. How do I chat using mIRC?
Download mIRC and install it. Leave all of the default settings. How To Guide is here for installing and setting the Server Details.

What are the Server Details?
Server - irc.EntropiaChat.com
Port - 6667

Can I use SSL?
Definately! Use port 9999 instead of 6667. SSL is a secure protocol for connecting to IRC for those who like such things.

How do I register my Nickname to stop others from using it?
Type the following: /msg nickserv register PASSWORD EMAIL -- make sure to change PASSWORD and EMAIL to your own details. Wait for the email we will send you and then follow those instructions.

How I identify my Nickname?
Type /msg nickserv identify PASSWORD -- You can also set mIRC to automatically identify you upon connection.

Who runs IRC?
The community does. All Ops have been around for over 4 years and many of the people here have been playing since beta. This doesn't mean IRC is for vets only! We have a diverse range of people chatting but the wealth of knowledge is there to help.

Is this an official MindArk IRC?
MA has no official Community sites with the exception of the Entropia Gateway. IRC is for the community, by the community.

If I have a problem with EU, can I get support?
You can ask and usually someone will be willing to help you find the answer. Official support should be directed to MA via the website. Unofficial community support in locating an answer can be found on Forums, Help Sites and IRC.

Can I make my own Society Channel?
Yes, enter a new room by typing /join #Channel_Name and providing you are the first person there, you will be the Operator.

What if I have an issue which requires an IRC admin such as abuse or Channel issues?
PM an Op in the main room.

Are there any rules?
Yes, dont be an idiot or abuse people. We dont have any people on the ban list because most people in IRC have Respect. If you post anything illicit, you will get a slap, if you post it again, a kick, and the 3rd time will be a timed ban. Extreme idiotness can result in a k-line. This is a total server ban and rarely used. Some trolls come to start trouble and grief others. Don't feed them as they are usually laughed at while everyone watches thier pathetic self-ownage.

Can I be an Op?
Sure, actively hang around for 3+ years and be a valued asset to the community. But understand that being an Op means nothing as the people on IRC dont actually ever get stupid enough to need an Op's intervention.

I feel emotional and want to cry or take legal action towards EntropiaChat.
Just as in the Entropia Universe, you live your life to the level at which you enjoy and can afford. If you wish to spend money on legal fees then that is your choice. We welcome all forms of entertainment, but do bear in mind the millions of others before you who have cried or tried to take legal action against someone on the Internet located in another country, saying things in a virtual chat room, on a server located in another country with another set of laws and operated by people located in yet another country. Please work with the Ops in IRC to resolve any matters.

Ohh, Why is there no decent design for the IRC web pages?
